art & monuments in stone

Collaborating with Artists, Architects and Commissioning Bodies

stoneCIRCLE collaborates with artists, architects, curators and institutions to realise ambitious works of art and permanent stone monuments.

We support projects from concept development through to fabrication and installation, combining advanced CNC technology with traditional stone craftsmanship. Our role is not simply production; we work as technical partners in the artistic process, translating ideas into material form with precision and sensitivity.

Our work spans:

  • Public art commissions

  • Contemporary sculpture

  • Architectural artworks

  • Memorials and monuments

  • Private collections

Translating Artistic Intent into Stone

Every collaboration begins with a different starting point.

Some artists provide maquettes, drawings or 3D models, which we translate into stone using digital fabrication processes that ensure accuracy, scalability and fidelity to the original concept.

Others adopt a more process-led, studio-based approach, working alongside our team as the sculpture evolves. This method allows continuous refinement, with decisions made through direct engagement with the material.

We also work from existing artworks or conceptual sketches, interpreting them in stone while preserving their language, rhythm and intent.

This flexibility allows us to support a wide range of artistic practices, from highly controlled digital workflows to intuitive, hands-on making.

Artist Collaborations

We build long-term relationships with artists, offering both technical expertise and a collaborative environment for experimentation.

Our collaborations include:

  • Susanna Heron - Stone Drawing
A process-driven approach to sculpture, where form evolves through dialogue between artist, material and making.
    Stonework Chronicles: Stone Drawing

  • Rona Smith – An Age, An Instant
A sculptural exploration of time, perception and permanence, translated into stone with careful attention to detail and surface.
    Case Study

  • Rachael Champion – Course and Flow
A body of work exploring drawing through carving, where line becomes incision and surface becomes depth.
    Artist Interview

These projects highlight how our role extends beyond fabrication, supporting conceptual development, technical resolution and material expression.

Stone Monuments & Memorials

The enduring nature of stone makes it the defining material for monuments, chosen for its longevity, presence and cultural significance.

stoneCIRCLE works with artists, architects and commissioning bodies to realise monuments that commemorate important people, events and histories, both nationally and regionally.

Our experience includes major public memorials such as:

  • Normandy Campaign Memorial, National Memorial Arboretum

  • Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial, London

  • Littlecote House War Memorial, Banbury

  • Westminster Cathedral memorial works (Tom Phillips)

Each project is developed through a careful balance of artistic intent, material performance and technical precision, ensuring the work endures both physically and culturally over time.
