Granite Worktops | Newbury Berkshire | Basingstoke Hampshire | Oxfordshire | Surrey

Our granite and composite stone kitchen worktops

We have manufactured and fitted a huge number of worktops over the 40 plus years that we have been in business and have thousands of satisfied customers across Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey.

All of our worktops are made to measure for the kitchen in which they will be used. We have a huge range of stones in stock at our Newbury and Basingstoke showrooms, and at Newbury you can view and choose your slab indoors in comfort. We recommend using either granite or a quartz composite or marble composite for worktops, as both are hard wearing and durable. We are approved fabricators for all the major brands of engineered or composite stone, such as Silestone, CaesarStone, Quarella.

Why choose a granite or composite stone kitchen worktop

  1. A granite or engineered stone countertop will make any kitchen look stunning
  2. It comes in a huge range of colours and several finishes to suit every style of kitchen.
  3. The worktop will be made for your kitchen allowing you to customise the look to suit you: straight angles or curves, a routed drainer or simple lines – the choice is yours.
  4. Both granite and engineered stone worktops are very hard-wearing and scratch-resistant
  5. Hot pans can be placed directly onto the surface
  6. The natural coolness of granite and composite stone makes them perfect for rolling out pastry

Steps to owning your granite worktop

  1. Choose your stone: there are hundreds of different types of granite all with different colours and markings. There are also many different engineered or composite stones. We can help guide you in your choice so that your worktop not only complements but enhances the chosen look for your kitchen.
  2. Once you have selected the stone, it is best to come to the showroom in Newbury or Basingstoke to select the actual slab that will be used for your countertop, as granite varies in shade and marking from piece to piece depending on which part of the quarry it came from.
  3. Prepare the site properly & get ready for templating: the key to beautiful, long lasting stone surfaces is a perfect preparation of the site. We will measure up and make templates, but the kitchen units need to be in place with any temporary worktops removed before we arrive and any sinks, taps, hobs etc need to be on hand so that we can ensure that they are properly marked on the template.
  4. Installation: it takes us just 5 working days from templating to installation on site. We have our own team of installers who will ensure that the job is done correctly and with the minimum of disruption.
  5. Seal the worktop. Stone is porous and can stain if liquid or acid is split onto it. You should seal & clean the worktop with the appropriate products. We carry a range in stock and can advise on which is most suitable for your type of stone.
  6. Enjoy your new kitchen.

Things to bear in mind

  1. Variations in shade and markings: granite can vary considerably from piece to piece and even within the same slab. We recommend that you come in to our Newbury or Basingstoke showrooms and choose the actual slab that will be used for your granite worktop to ensure that you are happy with it. If you require something more uniform in look, then composite or engineered stone is probably more suited to your needs.
  2. Fissures and pits: when the stone is formed, small cracks and bubbles can occur within it. Where necessary, these will be filled by us before the worktop leaves the factory.
