stoneCIRCLE, the Basingstoke-based stonemason has extended its factory’s capabilities with an investment in a new £200,000 machine which will allow it to work very large blocks of stone.
The newest addition to the factory which was extended on 2014, the Blade 5 AR machine from Italian company, Omag has five fully interpolated axes, and a vertical Z axis travel of 1200mm. In common with other CNC-equipped cutting machines, it uses diamond routers, but it is also equipped with a 1200mm diameter blade for fast roughing out and sawing of blocks. It can be used for shaping, contouring, engraving, sawing, and polishing stone.
Steve Vanhinsbergh, director commented “Omag installed our first CNC machine back in 1999 and that machine is still working every day which is testament to the exceptional build quality of their machines”.
